The GeForce RTX 4090 is undoubtedly an excellent graphics card. A luxury model displayed at an elitist price, it excels in absolutely all areas, while deliberately emphasizing the execution of raytracing games. This is perhaps the raison d’être of this generation of graphics cards: to prepare the ground for games that are increasingly provided with graphic effects of this type. And to top it off, Nvidia adorns this graphics card – and the other RTX 40s – with the DLSS 3 upscaling system which perfects an already excellent recipe. A card of choice, for those who can afford it.

Strong points

  • 4K performance.
  • DLSS 3.
  • Raytracing performance.
  • Efficient cooling system.
  • HDMI 2.1a video output.
  • Nvidia software ecosystem.
  • Excellent finish.
  • Shutdown ventilation when the card is idle.

Weak points

  • Requires a very well ventilated enclosure.
  • Cooling system that undermines CPU air heatsinks.
  • Power connector in the middle of the card.
  • Beware of power consumption: 450 watts peak!

The GeForce RTX 4080 is a card to consider for gamers with an ultra-high definition monitor who want to enable all graphics effects in games while taking advantage of raytracing. This graphics card excels in the exercise and offers speeds which, even lower than those of the RTX 4090, remain particularly high. And to top it off, Nvidia adorns this graphics card – and the other RTX 4000 series – with the DLSS 3 upscaling system which perfects an already excellent recipe. A card of choice, for those who can afford it.
