The GSP 500 is part of Sennheiser’s new range of high-end gaming headsets, also made up of its almost twin brother the GSP 600. If the second is a closed headset, the first, which interests us here, is an open headset which therefore promises to swap the excellent sound insulation of his brother for a fuller sound reproduction. Let’s see what it is.

Despite a few minor flaws, the GSP 500 delivers an extremely solid overall performance. Comfortable (except for a pronounced clamp effect), equipped with an absolutely remarkable quality microphone, it also benefits from a very immersive sound reproduction, in particular thanks to a very ample and precise spatialization. However, the latter is expressed above all on games and films; for music listening, the GSP 500 is noticeably less at ease. So even though it is one of the best helmets gaming available, this relative lack of versatility should be taken into account before any purchase decision, especially at its very high launch price.

• …despite excessive pressure around the ears.
• Slight coloration in the treble, perfectible neutrality.
• Slight inaccuracy in the mids, slight lack of sonic hairline.
• Proprietary connector between the cables and the headphones, volume wheel integrated directly into the headphones.

Good on all points, versatile and benefiting from a sound reproduction of astonishing precision (despite excessive softness), the latest HyperX is a safe bet that will delight the vast majority of its buyers.
