Sales figures confirm: Samsung hit the mark with this decision

The market researchers at Counterpoint Research have identified the top 10 best-selling smartphones worldwide in the first quarter of 2024. The ranking also shows which Samsung Galaxy smartphone has sold best so far this year – and the result is surprising.

While last year’s affordable budget model, the Galaxy A13, was the most successful Galaxy phone in the first quarter, this year the Galaxy S24 Ultra is Samsung’s current top model. It ranks fifth in the top 10 with a market share of 1.9 percent. This is followed by a budget model, the Galaxy A15 5G. With the Galaxy A54 (7th place), the Galaxy S24 (9th place) and the Galaxy A34 (10th place), there are four other Samsung cell phones in the top 10. However, the top 4 is dominated exclusively by Apple’s iPhone.

Galaxy S24 Ultra beats cheaper A models

It is probably no coincidence that the Galaxy S24 Ultra was able to outperform the cheaper A models in terms of sales this year. Samsung has brought forward the release of its top smartphone from February to mid-January, which appears to have had a positive impact on sales.

With the S24, a second premium model is also very popular with fans. Last year, apart from the S23 Ultra, only budget models from Samsung could be found in the top 10. However, market researchers are also noticing a general trend towards high-end models. This is also shown by the best-selling cell phone in 2024 so far, which is also a surprise.

It remains to be seen whether Samsung fans will choose the S series in the second quarter of 2024 or give priority to the A models. Finally, in mid-March 2024, Samsung released the Galaxy A55 and A35, successors to the A54 and A34 models placed in the top 10.
