While the competition offers full-format hybrids with more limited technical data sheets, Panasonic unveils an expert Lumix S5 that is difficult to fault. If the size of the device is improved compared to the Lumix S1 and S1R, it still remains on the side of the relatively imposing boxes. The Lumix S5 takes advantage of excellent ergonomics and a very complete photo/video mode, while offering good image quality. Enough to position it as a must in the 24×36 hybrid market.

The Panasonic Lumix GH5 II is a good case. Properly built, it offers effective ergonomics and above all a well-developed video mode. However, we may regret a certain lack of risk-taking on the part of Panasonic. The GH5 II is almost a clone of the GH5s, to which we would have (re)grafted the sensor of the first GH5 of the name. If 6K is attractive, it is also available on the Panasonic Lumix S5 which also benefits from a better quality 24×36 sensor. Finally, for those who prefer photography to video, the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III is a very relevant choice.
