Performance
The WD Black SN750 SE – here tested in the 500 GB version – is a PCIe 4.0 SSD. Its performance is modest in terms of performance, but it is counterbalanced by very good thermal management which gives it good flow resistance over time; a good point for use in a PC gaming or in a Sony PS5 console – then you have to add a third-party heat sink to it.
Strong points
- Good performance.
- Thermal management.
- Fairly large SLC cache.
- Simple and complete Dashboard software.
- 5 year warranty.
Weak points
- Not very fast for a PCIe 4.0 SSD.
NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude prices from shops whose the VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically in the case of imports from China).

Performance
With the 970 Evo Plus, Samsung offers very fast SSDs, but which heat up faster than on the previous generation. However, this is not prohibitive and the speeds remain high in absolute terms. Users who need to swap several tens of gigabytes at the chain will overcome this problem by using an SSD heatsink, as is found with more and more motherboards. The high endurance and the 5-year warranty are also to be considered.
