IHe is one of the great storytellers of our time. Someone who is not afraid to tell stories that are as magical as they are realistic. Someone for whom fiction is not an empty word, even though he has sometimes been caught in the cruel snares of the most violent reality. Salman Rushdie was stabbed in the neck and abdomen on Aug. 12 on the stage of a cultural center in Chautauqua, upstate New York. The writer was about to give a lecture there. A violent and cowardly attack, due to a 24-year-old Islamist fanatic, admirer of the Iranian regime, which brutally reminds everyone, while Rushdie himself thought it was stored in its sheath, the sword of Damocles which hangs over the writer since the publication of satanic verses(see box below…
