Salman Rushdie’s health is improving, his agent says

Aug 14 (Reuters) – Salman Rushdie, who is no longer on life support, is improving, his literary agent said on Sunday.

“He is no longer on a ventilator, so the road to recovery has begun,” his agent, Andrew Wylie, wrote in an email to Reuters. “It will be long; the injuries are serious, but his condition is going in the right direction.”

The Indian-born author was stabbed Friday at a conference organized by the Chautauqua Institution in New York state. (Report Nathan Layne Wilton, Connecticut; French version Jean-Michel Blot)
