Salto soon distributed among Prime Video channels

Salto in turn joins the Prime Video channels. But according to its boss Thomas Follin, the platform benefits from preferential treatment compared to the other services present in this system thanks to its French offer. “unavoidable”.

Prime Video insists in its strategy of aggregating other streaming platforms via its famous “channels”. Its latest addition may surprise more than one since next May, Salto will join the ecosystem of Amazon channels. No change for the subscription: count €6.99 monthly, one month free, but now the possibility of going directly through the American platform to access the French service. More specifically, the Prime subscriber choosing Salto will be entitled to an interface designed by the teams of the latter specifically for the Amazon platform.

According to its always very enthusiastic boss Thomas Follin, Salto holds a unique position with this partnership which will allow it to combine the “commercial power of Amazon to the editorial power of Salto”. A deal “strategic unique in Europe” according to him, because it would not be a question of a simple distribution. Unlike other services present among the Prime Video channels, Salto has negotiated an agreement that allows it to retain control over its offer and its subscribers. It may be a detail for you, but this very rare operation means a lot for Thomas Follin, who says that only Discovery+ benefits from such treatment.

somersault or “the only totally essential offer on French content”

The reason for this favoritism according to him? The extraordinary character of Salto, of course. “Our service offers the only totally essential offer on French contentreaffirms Thomas Follin. Amazon wants to continue to accelerate in France. Access to a platform like ours can therefore be decisive.” As always, the boss of Salto remains very discreet on the quantified aspects of this deal. This is an agreement “strategic, therefore financial”but we will not know more about the probable commission that Prime Video will pocket on subscriptions taken out via its platform, nor about the objective of recruiting subscribers hoped for with this merger.

For Thomas Follin, there is no possible doubt, the lights are more green than ever for the young platform. In addition to this apparently lucrative agreement with Amazon, Salto was indeed cited among the best SVoD platforms in terms of growth at the end of last year by the firm NPA Conseil and its Harris Interactive barometer. But also and above all, the acquisition of M6 by TF1 could represent a real godsend for the French service since its main players affirmed at the beginning of the year before the Senate their desire to invest massively in streaming. As the public service prepares to withdraw from the project, the new entity could therefore bet big on the existing one, in this case Salto.

Les Numériques is a media of the Unify group, which itself belongs to TF1.
