After several days of waiting, the final closing date of Salto has just been communicated by the French streaming platform, in an email sent to subscribers.
The fate of the French streaming platform Salto had been hanging in the balance for several months now. After having stopped putting daily soap operas online in preview, and having suspended new subscriptions, TF1, France Télévisions and M6, the main shareholders of the platform, announced Wednesday evening in an official press release that Salto would soon close. its doors, without a precise date having been announced.
But this Friday afternoon, Salto subscribers received an email informing them that the platform would definitely close its doors on Monday, March 27.
“We regret to inform you of the shutdown of the SALTO platform on 03/27/2023”, is it indicated in the press release. Subscribers may terminate their subscription without obligation at any time before this date. Otherwise, it will be automatically terminated on March 27.
It also ensures that if a user has subscribed from the salto.fr site by credit card or Paypal, it will be automatically refunded in proportion to the number of days remaining in their current month.
For subscribers via the Salto application from the Apple or Google Play stores, the refund will be made to the payment method associated with the account. In order to support subscribers, Salto has also set up online help in order to answer all their questions concerning the terms and conditions of the end of the service.
Launched in October 2020 with the ambition of becoming the “new French-style Netflix”, Salto did not meet with the expected success, only counting between 800,000 and 900,000 subscribers in 2022.
