Salvage from a doctor’s office – death riddle about the famous Viennese Prater original

As Lilly at the sausage stand in Vienna’s Prater, Liliane J. was something of a Viennese original for decades. When the woman went into well-deserved retirement, she opted for a stomach reduction. But she paid for her desire to be slim with her life – her family feels abandoned.

Liliane J. had all the examinations behind her in April when her doctor performed a gastroscopy in his Vienna ordination. This led to the drama: Lilly fell into a coma while being anesthetized. In practice, when asked by the “Krone”, it was said that the patient had had an allergic reaction to the anesthetic agent and had given incorrect information about her health.

One thing is certain: the elevator and staircase in the building were too narrow, and the 62-year-old, at risk of death, could not be removed from the practice on the fifth floor due to her body weight. An elaborate rescue by the fire brigade was necessary to abseil the woman before she arrived at the AKH hours later practically dead.

To this day, brother Milan J. does not know why his sister died: “At the AKH they said that the boss passed everything on to the judiciary.” The Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office confirms ongoing investigations, reports are pending.
