A big bang at the University of Salzburg: the position of rector is being advertised again. Means: The previous procedure ends.

Finally, only Viola Heugter, professor at the Caribbean University of Aruba, was available for the university’s coveted position. Her opponent, Martin Hitz, withdrew his application on Monday, the “Krone” reported. But now the process should start all over again. In other words: the application starts again. The hiccup surrounding the position of rector has been going on for about a year now. After Hendrik Lehnert did not make it to the University Senate’s two proposals, two complaints were made to the Federal Ministry. It was only last Friday that the Federal Administrative Court ruled in favor of the university senate; the two proposals were indeed valid. Elections should have been held in the next few weeks. But the new advertisement, which was announced on Friday, throws the rector search back to the start.
