Salzburger killed: – Defendant before trial: “It was just an accident”

The defendant calls it a mistake, for criminologists it was like an execution when a 37-year-old shot a Salzburg man in the back of the head in Klagenfurt last year. The trial of the convicted man begins on Monday.

As reported, the Salzburg resident’s body was found in November in a community apartment in Klagenfurt-Fischl.

The police had been looking for the Salzburg man because of a notice of absence. It was known that the marksman had an appointment in Klagenfurt where he had a gun with him. According to the indictment, the Klagenfurt native wanted to protect himself from his Slovenian drug supplier, of whom he was afraid.

The defendant declared the shot by mistake. He would only have been handling the small bore rifle when the shot went off. The autopsy showed, however, that the weapon had been attached.

The public prosecutor’s office in Klagenfurt applies for the perpetrator, who has a relevant criminal record in Austria and Germany, to be transferred to an institution for mentally abnormal lawbreakers.
