Matthias Jaissle (Salzburg coach): “Sturm in particular has been on the road incredibly well the whole season. You really have to pay tribute to what Christian Ilzer did with his team. Winning the title here at home against your toughest opponent is a great story. The adversities, the bumps we’ve had this year, for various reasons – I think it’s probably beyond the scope of this show to list them all. We have made it our goal throughout the year not to whine, not to lament, but always to make the best of it. So the title is actually better than last year.” Nicolas Seiwald (Salzburg captain): “We are overjoyed that we won today. And then also like that, actually almost a last-minute hit. It couldn’t be nicer. I think the next few weeks will be really cool and emotional for me. I’ve never been anywhere but at this club and appreciate what the club has done for me so much. I am overjoyed that we have now become champions and that I can say goodbye (to Leipzig, note). The start of the second half was very good. At half-time we discussed what we want to change, what we want to do better. We implemented that immediately. The quick goal to make it 1-1 helped us and we believed in it until the end.”Philipp Köhn (Salzburg goalie): “This year it was just great to have a challenge in the league. The way we came back today simply shows our mental strength.” Christian Ilzer (storm coach): “It was a reflection of the season, we were absolutely on an equal footing. The only point of criticism is perhaps the ten minutes after the break. We were too soft there, didn’t bring the presence onto the pitch that distinguished us before and afterwards. The risk at the end was necessary. It’s been an excellent season. We are constantly trying to improve. We won a title, were close to Salzburg for a very, very long time and pushed them extremely hard. It’s an enormous development that we’ve had this season.” Jon Gorenc-Stankovic (scorer in front): “We played a great game, but Salzburg are also deserved champions. If it’s 1-1 we have two or three chances where we might be able to take the lead again. It did not work. We threw everything forward and in the end conceded 1-2. We gave everything up to the last minute, I’m proud of this team.” David Affengruber (Forward defender): “We can be very proud of the season. We won a title this year and were in the title race for a long time. Now we have two more games in which we can get two wins and that’s it.”
