Sam Altman: “We plan to launch new AI models this year”

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, announced that the company will introduce a number of new artificial intelligence (AI) models this year.

When asked about the release of GPT-5, Sam Altman responded, however, that he honestly “didn’t know yet when it would be released.”

Instead, he said, “We’re going to have some really amazing models this year” and “we’re going to have a number of different models in the months leading up to GPT-5.”

Towards specialized GPTs?

“I don’t know yet what we’re going to call them,” he added, explaining the reason for the decision to present other AI models first: “We felt like there were a lot other important things we needed to release before we could talk about something like GPT-5.”

Sam Altman didn’t give many details about the upcoming AI models, but it’s likely that they will differentiate themselves from GPT-5 and specialize in certain functions.
