Samsung has announced new audio features for its different ranges of smartphones and televisions. Several models will now be compatible with spatial sound, as well as Auracast broadcast technology.

Samsung has decided to pamper the ears of its users. The brand has decided at the start of 2024 to bring several new features to its users through several updates. Owners of smartphones, wireless headphones and Samsung branded televisions will receive new software features in the coming days which will allow them to both enjoy a more immersive listening experience, but also to more easily broadcast their content on different devices around the house.

Wider audio distribution with Auracast technology

Samsung announces the integration of Auracast technology into some of its phones, but also its tablets. To summarize, this system allows a device to broadcast a song to several devices equipped with the same technology, via Bluetooth and simultaneously. The Samsung Galaxy S24, as well as the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro headphones, are already compatible with this technology.

The manufacturer indicates that the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 tablets will be able to broadcast audio content with Auracast to compatible devices. Samsung will also update older devices, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4 or the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE tablet.

The brand’s other devices, equipped with the One UI 5.1.1 system, will be able to receive Auracast broadcasting.

Automatic translation, spatial sound and automatic switching also appear

Samsung Galaxy S24 smartphones benefit from new capabilities made possible by the integration of Galaxy AI artificial intelligence. Among the available features, we can cite automatic translation of conversations, in a large number of languages. A future update will allow users to benefit from this same automatic translation with their Galaxy Buds wireless headphones. You will obviously need a Galaxy S24 to provide transcription, which will then be sent directly to the ears.

Spatial sound is the big trend of the moment, and Samsung intends to ride this trend. A selection of televisions will thus receive an update allowing them to play audio tracks with 360° sound. Only QLED, OLED and OLED 8K models are currently affected. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro will benefit from improved spatial sound, with tracking of the user’s head for even more immersive sound.

The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro will also benefit from a nice development with the automatic switch. If you are watching a film or program on your Samsung television with your headphones, and receive a call on your smartphone, the connection now automatically switches to the phone to answer the call, before returning to the television. An update will include Galaxy Book4 laptops in the list of compatible devices.
