  • Samsung will end software support for 3 devices starting September 2024.
  • From now on, the Galaxy Tab S7, S7+ and Z Flip 5G will no longer receive software updates
  • The devices can continue to be used. However, it makes sense to switch if you use the devices for online banking.

Samsung will end software support for a cell phone and two tablets in September 2024. In the South Korean manufacturer’s Security Center, the following devices were removed from the list of Galaxy models scheduled for security updates:

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S7
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+

Software support ends regularly

All three Galaxy models were released in August 2020 and were therefore provided with software updates for four years. Samsung does not end support prematurely, but rather discontinues it on a regular basis. The South Korean manufacturer now provides software support for between five and seven years. However, this new deadline only applies to devices released from 2021.

Anyone who uses one of the models mentioned does not have to immediately switch to a new cell phone or tablet. The devices continue to function, but over time they become more vulnerable to hacker attacks. Accordingly, a quick switch is particularly advisable if you store sensitive data on the devices or use them for online banking.

The current models in the series are available as an alternative. For the Z Flip 5G this is the Galaxy Z Flip 6, for the Galaxy Tab S7 or Tab S7+ it is the Tab S9 and S9+.
