Samsung could renew its SmartTag very soon

The SmartTag 2 could be released as early as August 2023, at the same time as the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5. Two years after the first generation, it’s hard to imagine what Samsung could add.

2021 was the year of the explosion of Bluetooth trackers. While Tile had quietly established itself as a leader in this market, two telephony behemoths have launched themselves. Samsung at the start of the year with the SmartTag, then Apple with the AirTags.

Since then, it’s been a bit dead calm. Note also the few smartphones that integrate Ultra-wideband, a standard that allows you to take advantage of all the features of these connected key fobs. Apart from a few models, only the iPhone and Galaxy S integrate it automatically.

An outing with the Z Flip and Fold

And that’s good, because Samsung would have planned to put the cover back this summer. According to Sam-Mobilethe Korean giant would plan to release 2nd generation SmartTags during the third quarter of 2023. In all likelihood, if this schedule were to be confirmed, the tracker should therefore be launched at the same time as the new Galaxy Z Flip 5, Z Fold 5, the Galaxy Buds 3 as well as the Galaxy Watch 6.

As for what Samsung has in store for this second generation, we can only guess. Sam Mobile speculates on better range, higher sound, and better security options.

The question of price will also arise. Brands like Eufy have since launched a similar product for half the price. If Samsung hopes to sell its second generation, it will therefore be necessary to find something to convince.
