Samsung doesn’t make it: will the Galaxy Watch 5 be a big disappointment?

With the Galaxy Watch 4, Samsung has made a smartwatch restart that has washed up. With the Galaxy Watch 5, however, the South Korean manufacturer probably has to shift down a gear. Samsung seems to be struggling with a long-awaited feature.

For years, Samsung has cooked its own smartwatch soup and used its own Tizen instead of Wear OS. The Galaxy Watch 4 from last year brought the long-awaited software change. If you were hoping that Samsung would focus more on the hardware after this step, you could be disappointed with the Galaxy Watch 5.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5: Problems measuring body temperature

Contrary to older reports, the new Samsung smartwatch cannot measure body temperature. This is reported by well-connected insider Ming-Chi Kuo on Twitter. According to him, Samsung has problems in designing the right algorithm that compensates for the constantly changing outside temperatures and thus ensures an accurate result when measuring body temperature.

According to Kuo, Apple is also facing this problem, which is why it is questionable whether the new Apple Watch Series 8 will have a clinical thermometer function. The Apple Watch SE could therefore become the cheaper alternative for many price-conscious buyers.

Better alternative for smartwatch buyers?
