Samsung support pages already mention a model number SM-R861 which should correspond to the Galaxy Watch FE connected watch which is supposed to be more affordable. This appearance on an official platform reinforces the possibility of a launch in July.
Several things are being prepared on Samsung’s side as Galaxy Unpacked approaches, its event expected in Paris on July 10. The Korean brand should notably announce its new generation of connected watches: the Galaxy Watch 7 obviously, an ambitious Galaxy Watch Ultra and a more accessible Galaxy Watch FE.
Like the Galaxy FE smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE is intended to be an alternative with some concessions to be less expensive. However, this model is attracting attention again since it has been more or less mentioned on the brand’s official websites in the United Kingdom and South America.
Indeed, Samsung support pages already reference the model number SM-R861. A nomenclature already seen previously in a certification of “Smart Wearable” devices with the FCC. However, since it was spotted, this reference is expected to be the future Galaxy Watch FE. And the fact of appearing on a platform of the manufacturer corroborates a launch fast approaching.
Galaxy Watch FE or Galaxy Watch 4 (2024)?
However, some believe that Samsung would opt for another brand name, namely: Galaxy Watch 4 (2024). This reflection is interesting since the model number SM-R861 resembles the R860 code used for the Galaxy Watch 4. Enough to suggest that the future connected watch would be a revisited evolution of the generation released in 2021.
Finally, be aware that, according to FCC certifications, this Galaxy Watch FE – if it is indeed called that – would only be available in a Bluetooth version. During Unpacked in Paris, you should also know that we are waiting to see a proper presentation of Samsung’s connected ring, the Galaxy Ring.
