Because the discounter offers the 5G cell phone from Samsung almost 30 euros below the previous street price. Sounds like a good deal, but if you look around the web, you will now find a better deal.

Because at Media Markt and Saturn you can get the cell phone much cheaper as part of Galaxy Week.

You can currently get the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G with 64 gigabytes of memory at Media Markt and Saturn for 150.42 euros. The two dealers not only undercut the Aldi offer, where the cell phone is available from Thursday for 159 euros, but also the price of all other providers. The mobile phone currently costs between 170 and 180 euros with the competition on the Internet. The suggested retail price is 229 euros.

Is it worth buying?

Definitive! The Galaxy A22 was launched in June 2021 and is therefore still relatively new. In addition, Samsung guarantees you at least two major OS updates and security patches for the next four years. Such long software support is the exception for cheap cell phones up to 200 euros.

The Galaxy A22 is also technically impressive. In addition to the support for the new 5G mobile communications standard, the generously dimensioned battery with 5,000 mAh stands out from the data sheet. As a rule, you should be able to get by with one battery charge for the Galaxy A22 for up to two days. The rest of the equipment is partly above average for the price range. For example, an NFC chip is still not standard for cell phones under 200 euros.

A weak point is the integrated device memory. Only 64 gigabytes are available here, which can become scarce in the long run. However, you can also buy the cell phone with 128 gigabytes of memory from Media Markt and Saturn, but then you pay 30 euros more. Alternatively, the memory can also be expanded later using a microSD card.

In addition, the Galaxy A22 is not a small cell phone and at over 200 grams it is not exactly light either. The design with the teardrop-shaped notch at the top edge of the display also looks old-fashioned compared to models like the Redmi 10 from Xiaomi. If you can live with that, you get a cheap cell phone that is also equipped for future tasks thanks to 5G and long software support.

What are the best alternatives to the Samsung phone? The Oppo A54 5G is an alternative. It is currently available for around 170 euros and is a bit lighter and more compact than the Galaxy A22. It also has another backup camera on the back and a more modern design. Here you have to do without the longer software support.
