Year after year, the Galaxy A is Samsung’s best-selling cell phone range worldwide. Two upcoming models for 2022 are already listed in the Google Play Console. The specifications of the Galaxy A53 and the Galaxy A33 show similar configurations and also indicate a possible downgrade compared to the current Galaxy A52s.

The info listed provides a glimpse of the hardware, with similar specs for both models. This includes 6 GB of RAM, a FullHD+ display (1080 x 2400 pixels) and Android 12, presumably with One UI 4.
Even more interestingly, the SoC (system-on-chip) is listed as Samsung S5E8825, a codename that doesn’t correspond to any released Samsung LSI processor. According to rumors, the SoC will be launched as an Exynos 1200 with eight cores (2x ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores with 2.4 GHz, 6x A55 efficiency cores with 2 GHz).

The new Exynos does not use the latest ARM A710 or A510 cores and is only compatible with the older ARMv8 architecture instead of ARMv9. For example, we see the ARMv9 architecture in SoCs like the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 and the Exynos 2200. The graphics card is a quad-core ARM Mali-G68 with 1 GHz.
The entry in the Google Play Console confirms most of the specifications of the A53 two days ago Leaked by @Shadow_Leak on Twitter became. The tweet states that the Galaxy A53 will have a 6.52-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a quad camera of 64+12+5+5 megapixels.
While these specs are similar to the Galaxy A52 models, according to the leaker, the battery will be boosted from 4500mAh to 5000mAh. On the other hand, the SoC looks similar on paper to the mid-range Snapdragon 720G and 750G SoCs used in the A52 models. These received a strong performance upgrade with the Snapdragon 778G of the Galaxy A52s.
The 2022 Galaxy A lineup refresh is expected to be iterative, without the big changes that the 2021 lineup brought to the mid-range market. The Galaxy A53 is expected to launch in March, while the release date of the other models is still up in the air. So maybe Samsung still has some time to surprise the market.
