If you don’t use your smartphone for performance-hungry applications and games, then you certainly don’t need a top device that costs well over 500 euros. Mid-range cell phones often offer an attractive price-performance ratio. It will usually be even cheaper if you choose a suitable tariff straight away. At Media Markt you currently only pay 30 euros for the Samsung Galaxy A54 alone if you buy it with the O2 Basic 20 tariff.
The smartphone: Samsung Galaxy A54 5G
According to our test, the Samsung Galaxy A54 is a strong mid-range smartphone. All colors for the 128 gigabyte version are currently available at Media Markt, although delivery may take a little longer for some. In our opinion, the memory is sufficient because you can move memory-hungry content to a microSD card in an emergency.
The 120 Hertz OLED display is 6.4 inches in size, supports HDR10+ and offers a resolution greater than Full HD at 2,340 x 1,080 pixels. 1,000 nits maximum brightness is sufficient even for very bright days. Thanks to Gorilla Glass on the front and back of the smartphone as well as an IP67 certification, it is robust for everyday activities.
The tariff: O2 Basic 20
The name O2 Basic 20 already reveals that you are using the O2 network. You have 15 gigabytes of LTE data volume at your disposal with up to 50 megabits per second. EU roaming as well as all-network and SMS flat rates are included.
During the 24-month minimum contract period you pay 19.99 euros per month. There is a one-off cost of 29.99 euros for the device and 39.99 euros for connection costs. Over the two years you will pay a total of 549.74 euros or effectively 22.91 euros per month.
If you were to take out the tariff alone, i.e. without a smartphone, you would actually pay the same monthly and connection price. This in turn means that the 29.99 euro device cost corresponds to the actual cost of the device. In other words: if the tariff suits you, you will get the Samsung Galaxy A54 for 29.99 euros instead of the current best price of 349.59 euros.
