Samsung Galaxy A55 and A35, mid-range smartphones revealed: availability and characteristics, what you need to know

Here we are: the Galaxy A55 And Galaxy A35 have just been made official by Samsung. The new mid-range smartphones intend to democratize some of the latest innovations from the South Korean manufacturer, particularly in terms of security.

Just yesterday, the successors to the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 were revealed by Samsung. The new models will therefore crown the Korean’s vast range of affordable devices, just a few weeks after the release of its latest high-end flagships, the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra. One thing is certain, the Galaxy A55 5G and A35 5G intend to honor their predecessors by once again establishing themselves as the kings of the mid-range smartphone category.

The Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 are revealed!

These days, the affordable smartphone segment is somewhat saturated. If Apple will obviously not market a new iPhone SE before next year, it is clear that many manufacturers today offer versatile phones at a relatively affordable price. This is particularly the case of Samsung, which, in this area, has been able to establish a relationship of trust with its users, in particular thanks to the Galaxy A series which no longer needs to be presented.

This Monday, March 11, the manufacturer took the opportunity to present its two new mid-range phones: the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35, both of which are obviously ready for 5G.

Both smartphones feature a 6.6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel and are capable of reaching a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits. Although Samsung promises a refresh rate of up to 120Hz for both models, both will not get the same processor treatment. You will have to count on the Exynos 1480 for the Galaxy A55, while the Galaxy A35 will be powered by the Exynos 1380 chip.

On the battery side, no change is noted compared to the Galaxy A54 and A34, which both benefited from an autonomy of around two days. That being said, regarding the photo part, Samsung seems to have wanted to pull out all the stops with the addition of various improvements.

Changes on the photo side, especially for the A55

For the first time in the Galaxy A series, the A55 and A35 models can “ film in 4K and Super HDR while benefiting from image stabilization “. At the back of both devices, we find, unsurprisingly, a triple photo module. However, while they both benefit from a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 5-megapixel macro sensor, the Galaxy A55 stands out thanks to its 32-megapixel front sensor and its 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor.

For information, the Galaxy A35 has a 13 MP front camera and an 8 megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.

Concerning the rendering of the photos, Samsung specifies that the Galaxy A55 “ takes sharp, precise and bright photos, even in low light, thanks to artificial intelligence “. At night, Portrait mode guarantees optimal image quality, regardless of the light level.

Galaxy A55 & Galaxy A35: price, colors and availability

The Galaxy A55 and A35 (128 GB) will be sold from March 14 at the respective prices of 499 euros and 399 euros. You will have to pay almost an additional fifty euros to get your hands on the variants with 256 GB of storage. No fewer than four colors will be available at launch, namely Blue, Midnight Blue, Lilac and Lime.

Good news: the Samsung Knox Vault safe, which offers advanced security features to users of Galaxy S smartphones, will arrive for the first time on the Galaxy A range. In addition, the Galaxy A55 and A35 will benefit from four years of Android updates (as well as One UI) and will benefit from five years of security updates.
