The next version of Samsung’s Android overlay should have beneficial effects on your smartphone’s battery.
Several weeks after publishing its update schedule for its Galaxy smartphones and tablets, Samsung has since equipped several of its devices with the latest version of One UI.
As One UI 6.0 gradually rolls out to Galaxy A series devices, One UI 6.1 is expected to bring a set of new features based on artificial intelligence. One of them would even make sure to take care of your phone’s battery.
Samsung is working on new options to preserve your battery
On X.com (formerly known as Twitter), leaker Tarun Vats recently discovered new features to preserve the battery of your Samsung smartphone. As reported to us by the site Sam Mobileseveral charging options would soon be integrated into One UI.
First we find Basic mode, which will interrupt charging at 100% before resuming it once the battery drops to 95%. Adaptive mode, on the other hand, will pause charging once the 80% threshold is reached during your sleeping hours, before finally resuming charging shortly before you wake up.
Finally, Max mode will stop charging your device once the battery is 85% charged. An option which is also reminiscent of one of the features introduced by Apple with the iPhone 15, and which allows, as a reminder, to restrict the charging of your iPhone to 80%.
One UI 6.1 will take care of your smartphone’s battery
According to Tarun Vats’ recent findings, these different modes should allow Samsung smartphone owners to further preserve their device’s battery. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that recharging a device beyond 80% can lead to accelerated battery degradation.
Therefore, with the integration of Max mode, the South Korean manufacturer will undoubtedly allow you to offer better battery life to your smartphone.
For information, these new features should logically arrive once the update to One UI 6.1 has been deployed. This should take its first steps next month, probably at the same time as the Galaxy S24, the presentation of which is expected on January 17, 2024.

- Photographic performances
- Performance
Successful design and ergonomics, presence of a stylus, top performance, remarkable screen, good battery life and excellent photo quality: the Galaxy S23 Ultra is undoubtedly one of the best smartphones of the start of the year. But you will have to agree to pay a (very) high price.
In order to acquire it, you will have to pay 1,419 euros (8/256 GB), 1,599 euros (12/512 GB) or 1,839 euros (12 GB/1 TB). This fabulously high price marks a significant increase (from 60 to 280 euros, depending on the model) compared to what the Galaxy S22 Ultra was worth at its launch…
Is it really worth this price? Yes, if you exploit all your capabilities (notably the stylus and the photographic aspect) and you have the means to afford it. It then becomes an exceptional everyday companion. Otherwise, move on and look for less expensive models.
