With the Galaxy S23, the S23+ and the S23 Ultra, Samsung launched three new top smartphones at the beginning of February 2023. Fan feedback is positive, as can be seen from the sales numbers, but for some of you, minor bugs are spoiling the joy of your purchase. That should not be.

We therefore clicked through Reddit, the Samsung Community and other forums and identified common problems with the Galaxy S23 series. You will find these listed below, for almost all of them we also offer a possible solution.

Galaxy S23 Ultra: Quick Notes are greyed out

If you activate the “Quick Notes” option in the settings, it is sufficient to tap the display twice with the S Pen while holding down the button to create a note. On some devices, however, the menu item is grayed out.

In this case, the “Samsung Notes” app is not installed or is disabled. Install it or activate it to use the function. If this does not help, it is also possible that another app is blocking “Samsung Notes” – such as the “Pentastic” app. In this case you have to uninstall them.

Galaxy S23 just reboots from time to time

An annoying bug that some of you are experiencing is that the phone will just restart itself from time to time. The reasons for this are unclear.

Samsung recommends performing a so-called “wipe cache” in the US forum. To do this, turn off the device. Then press and hold the volume up button and the Bixby button. Then press the power button and hold all three buttons. Once the Android logo appears, release the buttons. Now a menu appears, use the volume buttons to navigate to the item “Wipe Cache Partition” and select it with the power button. Then confirm the warnings.

Gallery app does not switch to landscape mode on the Galaxy S23

Your gallery app doesn’t rotate when you hold your phone sideways?

This problem is commonly seen in connection with the Nova Launcher and has existed on older Samsung devices as well. In this case, it is advisable to set up the launcher from scratch without a backup file.

Crashes in the WLAN connection

Can’t your Galaxy S23 establish a stable WiFi connection?

There can also be several reasons for this. It often helps to reset the network settings. Open the settings now look for the menu item “General management”, then select “Reset” and then “Reset network settings”.

Problems connecting to Android Auto

Reports of problems with the connection to Android Auto are also increasing online.

Maybe the latest software update from Samsung will help here.

Is your problem not included or does the suggested solution not help?

We will continuously update this list over the next few days and add further problems. But keep in mind that the S23 does not have to be the cause of every problem. For example, a fault in the mobile network can also be the cause of poor reception. Therefore, also check our fault indicator to see whether your provider is currently having a problem.
