Samsung is launching two new smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Watch 6 Classic. Our comparison clarifies where the differences lie.
At the Unpacked event in July 2023, Samsung presented the Galaxy Watch 6 series in addition to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5 and the Tab S9. This consists of the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.

Size
Both variants are available in a smaller and a larger version. Accordingly, the Galaxy Watch 6 can be bought in either 40 mm or 44 mm. With the Classic you can choose between 43 mm and 47 mm. Both models have AMOLED displays with 432 x 432 pixels on the smaller watch and 480 x 480 pixels on the larger variant.

The larger models also come off a little better when it comes to the battery. This one has a capacity of 425 mAh, while the smaller smartwatches only have a 300 mAh battery. In terms of performance, all variants use the Exynos W930, which in turn is supported by 2 gigabytes of RAM. That doesn’t sound like much on paper, but it’s perfectly adequate for a smartwatch.

The main difference is actually in the design and processing. The Watch Classic is made of stainless steel and has a slightly different look than the regular version. The colors are also different when you buy them. The Watch 6 can be bought in gold, gray and silver, while the Classic is only produced in black and silver.

Both smartwatches are equipped with Wear OS 4, WLAN, 4G, NFC, GPS and Bluetooth 5.3. When it comes to health functions, fans can look forward to a pedometer, a heart rate monitor, a calorie counter, an ECG, a blood oxygen monitor and a sleep tracker. Various sensors such as an accelerometer, a magnetometer, a barometer, a gyroscope, a thermometer and a compass are also installed.
Prices and Availability
Both models can be pre-ordered now and will be shipped on August 11th. The Classic version is slightly more expensive. Samsung calls for the following prices for the different variants:
