The South Korean manufacturer Samsung is currently working on the Galaxy Z Flip 5. One criticism of the predecessors has always been the smaller external display. Rumor has it that Samsung will take care of this this time. But an insider sees a need to catch up elsewhere!
For the larger outer screen to become a more useful update, Samsung needs to get app developers to adapt their programs for it, writes Sammobile’s Abhijeet Mishra. Although there are already rumors that Samsung’s own system apps are available on the external display, he believes that popular apps such as WhatsApp should also work on it at launch.
However, Samsung cannot, of course, dictate to the app developers whether and how they include the external display in their apps. With devices such as the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, there are now other products with a second screen, but this is not a guarantee that developers will support this technology.
