Samsung is usually very quick to distribute its monthly software updates, often outperforming even Google. This time it took a little longer, but the September update will also start directly for several models.

Samsung distributes September update

Basically at the same time, Samsung and Google started distributing the September update for their smartphones this time. Usually Samsung is a bit faster, but this time both companies are on par. At Samsung, the update closes a total of 24 security gaps, 21 of which have a high priority (source: SamMobile). Critical vulnerabilities will not be closed this time. Nevertheless, you should install the update promptly when it is offered to you. The September update is available for the following smartphones:

  • Samsung Galaxy S21
  • Samsung Galaxy S20 FE
  • Samsung Galaxy A52s

The September updates are rolled out in waves, reaching more and more countries. The Galaxy S21 and S20 FE are already receiving the update in Germany, and it has been released in Taiwan for the Galaxy A52s. Over time, the new software update will also appear for other smartphones. At Samsung, this is now happening very quickly, since there is only one version available in Europe, for example, and a separate solution is no longer developed for each country. This speeds up the whole process enormously.

Where is Android 13?

You still have to wait a bit for Android 13. Samsung is currently working on the major OS upgrade. It is initially expected for the Galaxy S22 smartphones in October 2022. A beta version is already available for these smartphones, which you can install if you want to try out Android 13 and One UI 5.0 now. We would advise you to wait. Errors can still be integrated there. So it’s nothing for everyday use. As soon as the final version is out, we will let you know.
