Samsung presents a new communication solution passing directly by satellite.
The Korean tech giant announces the deployment of a new solution that will provide satellite communication, particularly useful in environments without Wi-Fi or cellular network coverage. And it could in the future allow the passage of massive data.
Samsung joins Apple
Apple surprised last fall by offering for the first time the possibility with its new iPhone 14 to be able to make emergency calls by satellite. An interesting option if you are ever stuck in a mountainous, desert or simply on the ocean, where the network does not pass.
And as often, where Apple sets foot, Samsung is never far away. The rival of the Cupertino company now belongs to the same club, since it has just announced the arrival of its 5G NTN technology, for Non-Terrestrial Networks (non-terrestrial networks).
The latter will thus allow two-way communication in the white zone, with the possibility of calling, sending SMS and data. A solution therefore broader than the only emergency call offered by Apple.
Soon photos and videos transmitted by satellite?
And although already representing a step forward on its rival, Samsung does not intend to stop there with satellite technology. The world number 1 smartphone indeed wants to eventually also allow the sending of photos, and even videos, through 5G NTN.
