Samsung is reportedly actively working on a laptop with a 17.3-inch folding screen

Samsung manufactures Oled panels of all kinds for many manufacturers around the world and, according to information from research firm Omdia, the South Korean firm would be ready to use one of its screen technologies itself. It could invest next year in a whole new product segment: that of folding screen laptops.

A 17.3-inch OLED screen

Samsung would indeed intend to produce in the near future a folding laptop with a diagonal of 17.3 inches. According to The Electricof the 8.5 million Oled panels that Samsung Display would provide for laptops in 2023, some would end up at Asus, but not only.

This time around, most of the screens would go to Samsung MX, the division in charge of manufacturing the brand’s Galaxy laptops, to design this all-new model.

Builders work behind the scenes

This new laptop format would offer the user the possibility of enjoying an unfolded 17.3-inch screen, but also two 13.3-inch screens when folded. One of the great advantages of this type of design is that it offers new uses with a more hybrid and comfortable use, the lower half of the screen being able, for example, to leave room for a keyboard if necessary.

Of course, such a device should come out at a fairly high price. Apple would also be in line to produce its own folding MacBook, but its commercialization would not be expected for a while yet.
