Samsung launches the Galaxy A23 5G in France against the Redmi Note 11 series

The release of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 is for today. But as it did last year by unveiling the Galaxy A52s at the release of its folding smartphones, Samsung is accompanying its two flagships with a slightly less ambitious model, but destined to sell in large volumes: the Galaxy A23 5G. The smartphone is therefore the gateway to 5G in the 2022 range of the South Korean manufacturer.

In terms of design, the smartphone aims for harmonization with the rest of the Galaxy A 2023 and is therefore reminiscent of the Galaxy A33 and A53 that we recently tested. The Galaxy A23 5G is of course dressed in plastic to keep, despite its 6.6-inch screen and its dimensions of 165.4 x 76.9 x 8.4 mm, a weight below the 200 g mark (197 g exactly). Its panel, limited to LCD, displays in Full HD + and benefits from a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz.

Coming to play on the lands of brands such as Xiaomi, which is multiplying 5G smartphones at contained prices, the Galaxy A23 5G borrows its Snapdragon 695 chip from the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, which it accompanies with 4 GB of RAM. Its storage stands at 64 GB, with support for a microSD port. Its battery retains the capacity found on the Galaxy A22 5G, i.e. 5000 mAh, but now offers charging at 25 W, compared to 15 W on the 2021 model.

The whole is completed by a rear photo block comprising a main sensor of 50 megapixels (optical wide-angle f / 1.8), an ultra-wide-angle module (5 Mpx, f / 2.2) and two modules of 2 Mpx each, reserved for macro and depth measurement. On the front, selfies are provided by an 8 Mpx sensor. The smartphone finally runs Android 12 with OneUI 4.1.

Evolving in the hotly contested court of the most affordable smartphones to offer 5G, the Galaxy A23 5G is announced at a price of 319 €. Remember that its direct competitors offer, at equivalent or slightly higher prices, AMOLED screens or very fast charging, but also that the Galaxy A33 itself is offered between 300 and 320 € depending on the promotions. For it to make a place for itself, it is therefore necessary to hope that the smartphone will quickly appear below the threshold of 300 €…
