Samsung Odyssey G9: an 8K Ultrawide monitor in the works

The conference dedicated to the new Radeon graphics cards from AMD was the occasion for Samsung to announce its future 8K Ultrawide monitor, which will succeed the Odyssey Neo G9.

The Samsung Odyssey 49G9, with its 49-inch 240 Hz panel, currently displays a resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels.

We can expect the 8K Ultrawide model to also use a 49-inch panel, which would display a definition of 7680 x 2160 pixels. It will therefore be necessary to provide a very powerful graphics card compatible with DisplayPort 2.0/2.1 to support such a definition, especially since the frame rate should probably reach 144 Hz.

Remember that the GeForce RTX 4090 ignore DisplayPort 2.0, making do with DisplayPort 1.4. Only new AMD Radeon graphics cards are currently announced as compatible with DisplayPort 2.0/2.1.
