Samsung has just announced its brand new Odyssey Neo G8 PC display. It is the first monitor to offer 4K at 240 Hz.

Samsung’s range of PC monitors is growing. Last year, there were plenty of models at all prices, but especially the Neo G9. An extremely large PC display (49 inches, 32: 9), with a high definition of 5120 x 1440 pixels. It has features tailored for gaming, and this year… Samsung introduced its Mini LED technology.
In 2022, Samsung announces the Odyssey Neo G8. It’s a gaming monitor… from 32 inch with the same 1000R curvature.
32 inches, 4K, 240 Hz …
As a reminder, the term “Neo” is also found in Samsung’s Neo QLED TVs, it is Quantum Mini LED technology. In addition to a peak brightness of 2000 nits – that’s a huge value – Samsung uses several hundred backlight areas to optimize the contrast ratio.

Aside from the size difference, the Odyssey Neo G8 has the same design as the G9 ,. A smaller screen but greater definition: the QHD Plus definition goes to 4K. Samsung claims that this is the first 4K monitor to support a refresh rate of 240Hz and a response time of 1ms. It will take a very solid graphics card to get 240 frames per second in 4K. Nvidia has planned some announcements at CES 2022 …
It also supports HDR 10+, and keeps the same technical table for the rest: Nvidia G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, VRR, 240 Hz, 1 ms… with obviously two HDMI 2.1 ports to have enough bandwidth. The Odyssey Neo G8 also has a DisplayPort 1.4 port with adaptive sync, as well as a headphone jack and two USB 3.0 ports.
