Samsung: OneUI 6 ready to land on the Galaxy S23

The launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Tab S9 coincided with the launch of a new version of OneUI, Samsung’s home interface that accompanies Android 13 on all of these devices. Stamped 5.1.1, this version is an enrichment of OneUI 5, focused in particular on improving Flex Mode on folding smartphones. We therefore suspect that OneUI 6 is in the making to accompany Android 14.

A press release published on Samsung’s German platform earlier this week, then deleted, informed the brand’s customers of the launch of a beta test phase of OneUI 6 in August. Reserved for customers in Germany, but also in South Korea and the United States, this beta concerned the Galaxy S23 series; no doubt, it has only been postponed for a few days, and will be offered in a few weeks.

The press release, accompanied by a visual showing the Galaxy S23 Ultra under OneUI 6, promises various new features. They relate in particular to the quick settings panel, redesigned in the form of cards with rounded corners: it will be accessible directly with a swiping motion from the upper right corner of the screen. Samsung also announces the integration of customization options allowing in particular to modify the wallpaper displayed depending on the situation, for example in standby mode. The manufacturer does not say much more, but also promises cosmetic improvements, enough to smoothen “daily tasks […] so that users can be even more productive”. Suffice to say that the actual launch of OneUI 6 will have many other new features.

If the OneUI 6 beta with Android 14 is preparing to debut, it is undoubtedly to be ready for the launch of Samsung’s next high-end smartphones, the Galaxy S24. It should be noted that the Korean is not the first to offer its customers to test Android 14 before its official availability, since this is the case with Nothing, Oppo, Vivo or even OnePlus … in addition to the Google Pixel , of course.
