Samsung prints a giant photo of a cat to advertise its 200 MP photo sensor

Samsung has used great means to promote its ISOCELL HP1 sensor. To show the impressive level of detail that this one can capture, the manufacturer has printed a giant photo of a cat taken with it. The result is striking to say the least.

Last September, Samsung revealed to the world the very first 200 MP smartphone sensor: the ISOCELL HP1. For now, no device has been equipped with the beast, and users are still waiting to see what it has in the belly. Indeed, the Korean manufacturer has done well with this brand new sensor, if only by its gigantic size when placed on a smartphone. Logically, we therefore expect extraordinary performances.

After months of waiting, it’s time for Samsung to show what its sensor is capable of. In a new advertisement published on its YouTube channel, the firm has decided to mark the occasion and make it big. Literally ! Rather than touting the merits of its sensor through a smartphone screen, Samsung preferred to print a huge cat photo, then display it in the middle of town.

Samsung thinks big for its 200 MP sensor

The least we can do is that the operation is successful. This simple photo of a cat, printed on a 28 x 22 meter poster, does not have to be ashamed of the other shots taken with professional cameras. Of course, this one was touched up in post-production by the photographers. Still, the result is striking, with a level of detail never before achieved by a smartphone sensor.

The promise is therefore particularly attractive. For the general public, this means taking photos that can be zoomed in almost infinitely without ever losing quality. No doubt the ISOCELL HP1 will revolutionize the way we take pictures. So we just have to wait for it to find its way into the smartphone market. This will probably be done next July, when the new Motorola is released.
