In November 2021, Samsung Electronics announced that it was working on a new RAM standard for mobiles, the LPDDR5X. Last March, the firm indicated that the technology had been approved by Qualcomm and that it should, in fact, be found soon in smartphones. It took until July for the first model to benefit from this RAM – the GT2 Explorer Master – to be presented by Realme. But since then nothing, at least until today.
Samsung’s “new” LPDDR5X RAM will offer much faster speeds. The South Korean firm announces that it has reached 8.5 Gbps against 7.5 Gbps previously. A nice improvement due to a lot of optimization, in particular thanks to joint work with Qualcomm for the Snapdragon chips. This should give a boost to new features, provide progress on in-game performance or even an evolution in everything related to artificial intelligence, photographic processing or even… the metaverse.

Once again, it seems that Qualcomm is the first founder to benefit from the scoop on the adoption of this faster memory. It remains to be seen which smartphone will be able to have it first. With the presentation of Gen 2 of chipsets high-end, expected on the occasion of the Tech Summit scheduled for November 15 to 17, we should not wait long before hearing again about this new generation LPDDR5X RAM.
