If the Galaxy S23 and other Galaxy Z Flip 5 generally attract the spotlight, we must not forget that it is thanks to entry-level and mid-range smartphones that Samsung can boast of being the biggest seller of mobile phones in the world.
Samsung announces the launch of two entry-level smartphones, the Galaxy A05 and A05s. They will first be launched in Asia, the most important region in terms of sales of inexpensive smartphones for the world leader. The Galaxy A05 is powered by a Mediatek Helio G85 chip, launched in 2020 which integrates two Cortex A75 cores at 2 GHz and six Cortex A55 efficiency cores. The Galaxy A05s benefits from a chip Snapdragon 680just like the Realme 9 4G, for example.
The photo part consists of a 2 MP depth of field sensor and a 50 MP wide angle sensor on the back, and an 8 MP selfie camera on the front for the Galaxy A05. The Galaxy A05s distinguishes itself from its colleague by adding a 2 MP macro camera on the back and by equipping the selfie camera with a better 13 MP sensor. For video, Samsung ensures that both devices can film in 1080 p at up to 60 frames/s. THE Galaxy A05s offers a fingerprint reader on the edge, but not the “simple” Galaxy A05.

Another difference between the 105 and A05s models: the definition of their screen. When the Galaxy A05 sports a 6.7-inch HD+ panel, the Galaxy A05s has a Full HD+ panel refreshed at 90 Hz. In terms of connectivity, these affordable smartphones should be very popular with as many people as possible. There is a micro-SD card slot, a jack for wired headsets, and two SIM card slots. They obviously offer 4G functionality (no 5G), GPS, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and transfer and charging through a USB 2.0 Type-C port.
The Galaxy A05 and Galaxy A05s both run Android 13. The S model will get four software updates, but nothing has been specified for the Galaxy 105. In its base configuration, the Samsung Galaxy A05 is equipped with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and a 5000 mAh battery. It will be offered in the colors Black, Light Green and Silver for a price around €200.
