Samsung presented the A72, A52 and A52 5G smartphones on March 17th. This is what the devices have to offer in terms of camera, display and battery.

On March 17th, Samsung presented the new A series of smartphones in a live stream: the A72, A52 and A52 5G. With the three models, the tech giant wants to offer good smartphones at a moderate price. All devices, regardless of the version, are available for less than 500 euros and are now available in stores.

Like a mantra, the idea was prayed down that the A72 and A52 as well as the 5G version of the A52 should offer a "fantastic camera", a "fantastic display" and long battery life. The devices come in the four colors purple, blue, black or white as well as in a stylish, simple design. The models are IP67 certified and therefore protected from dust and water.

Display and camera

A 6.7 inch (A72) or 6.5 inch Super AMOLED display (A52 variants) shines with a brightness of up to 800 nits. Meanwhile, an eye comfort function is supposed to filter out blue light and a refresh rate of 90 Hz (120 Hz for the A52 5G) promises an always smooth operation, for example when scrolling through content.

All models offer a quad camera, including a main camera with 64 megapixels. Thanks to optical image stabilization, photos and videos should remain sharp even during movement and a night mode should enable successful recordings even in adverse lighting conditions. In the "fun mode", meanwhile, users can use Snapchat filters directly in the camera app, for example to give selfies a certain something. A selfie camera with 32 megapixels is also on board.

Battery should last two days

The devices are delivered with the One UI 3.1 user interface, which has been available for selected Galaxy smartphones since mid-February. While the A52 variants are equipped with 4,500 mAh batteries, the A72 has 5,000 mAh to offer. In both cases, the smartphone should be usable for two days without having to charge it in between. And if you forget to charge it at night, the device automatically switches to an energy-saving mode during the hours when a user usually sleeps.

All variants come with an octa-core processor and, depending on the version, have between six and eight gigabytes of RAM and 128 or 256 gigabytes of storage space, which can be expanded by up to one terabyte with a microSD card. Depending on the version, the Galaxy A52 costs either 349 or 409 euros, the A52 5G is available for 429 or 489 euros and the A72 is available for 449 euros.
