Samsung unveils its first TV equipped with an OLED panel manufactured by LG Display

So far, all Samsung QD-Oled televisions and monitors have featured QD-Oled panels manufactured by Samsung Display, a subsidiary of the Korean manufacturer dedicated to the production of screens. But the situation has changed. In the United States, Samsung has just marketed the QN83S90C television, the first Oled television from the Korean manufacturer to use a W-Oled (White-Oled) panel manufactured by its longtime rival, LG Display.

The integration of this new 83-inch model in the S90C range is somewhat inconsistent, since the other 55, 65 and 77-inch models are equipped with a QD-Oled panel manufactured by Samsung Display. This slab is better in every way. QD-Oled panels deliver greater brightness, have wider viewing angles and benefit from a better anti-reflective filter than conventional OLED panels, as is the case with 83-inch OLED panels. Indeed, only the new Oled Meta panel with its micro-lens filter (MLA) does better than the QD-Oled. However, this micro-lens Oled panel is only available in 55, 65 and 77 inches (only the LG G3 is currently equipped with this new panel).

This 83-inch Samsung Oled TV has the same features as the other models in the S90C range. We find a Samsung Neural Quantum processor, the Tizen operating system, four HDMI 2.1 4K 120 Hz inputs, HDR10, HDR10 + and Dolby Atmos compatibility and of course the new remote control with its small solar panel on the back. This TV is still not compatible with Dolby Vision.

The 83-inch Samsung QN83S90C TV retails for around $5400 in the US. For comparison, the LG 83C3 television equipped with the same Oled panel was launched last May for a price of $5,300, but it is now available at $4,800. The 83-inch Samsung Oled TV should be marketed before the end of the summer in France.
