Good news for Galaxy S23 owners: Samsung has just updated the camera of its latest high-end smartphones.

And the least we can say is that this update is very generous in terms of new features!

Samsung updates the camera of its latest Galaxy

In recent weeks, the Galaxy S23 Ultra camera has been particularly talked about. While Samsung officially took the floor to clarify the situation regarding the Moon shots, we recently discovered that the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s smart editing tool was doing a very weird thing on baby photos.

Just today, the Korean giant took the opportunity to release a software update for its Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra. And this latest update relates more particularly to the camera, which takes the opportunity to accommodate a number of new features.

Galaxy S23: a substantial update for the camera

First, Samsung has revised its autofocus algorithm. For faster photo taking, the user can now take a photo even when the focus is not fully set (note that if you wish, you can switch to the old configuration from the settings). Sharpness has improved and flicker has been reduced when capturing video using the ultra-wide camera in low-light situations in Super Steady mode. A function to immediately delete newly captured and/or in-process photos has also been added to the Gallery.

Here is the list of other additions/fixes made with this new update:

  • Fixed the bug that sometimes displayed a green line on the left side when using the rear-facing camera in Photo mode.
  • Improved video stabilization when resolution is set to Full HD 60fps and Auto FPS setting is disabled when using the rear-facing camera.
  • Improved the issue of bands appearing in the sky with medium and low ambient light and when using high resolution (50MP or 200MP). Overall sharpness has been improved in both 50MP and 200MP modes. Samsung has also addressed the intermittent blurring issue by improving OIS performance.
  • Samsung has also addressed this image quality issue when Night Mode is disabled and the Camera Assistant app is set to the following setting: Shooting Speed » High Resolution » Speed Priority.
  • Also resolved is the camera issue where face recognition would not work after ending a video call using a third-party app.
  • Samsung has also improved the stability of the camera app when the frame includes moving subjects.

Listening to suggestions from its community, Samsung is working to improve the camera of its Galaxy S23. If the update is now deployed in South Korea, it could only arrive here from April (in a handful of weeks, at the latest).

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

  • Fabulous screen
  • Photographic performance
  • Performance

Successful design and ergonomics, presence of a stylus, top performance, remarkable screen, good autonomy and excellent photo quality: the Galaxy S23 Ultra is without a doubt one of the best smartphones of this beginning of the year. But you will have to agree to pay the (very) high price.

In order to acquire it, it will indeed be necessary to pay 1,419 euros (8/256 GB), 1,599 euros (12/512 GB) or 1,839 euros (12 GB/1 TB). This fabulously high price marks a significant increase (from 60 to 280 euros depending on the model) compared to what the Galaxy S22 Ultra was worth at its launch…

Is it really worth this price? Yes, if you use all of its capabilities (notably the stylus and the photographic aspect) and you have the means to afford it. It then becomes an exceptional everyday companion. Otherwise, go your way and turn to less expensive models.
