Samsung wants to help you repair the shattered screen of your folding smartphone

Parts available…but expensive

Launched in France in June 2023, this alternative to renewal or professional repair only concerned, until then, the company’s “classic” smartphones as well as certain laptops. Now the site lists the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 as well as the Galaxy S23 and a few tablets.

If you feel like a handyman, you can change the screen of your Z Fold5 or the charging module of your Flip5. Complicated phones to repair

While we can only welcome the fact that Samsung highlights the repairability of its devices, we should still point out that providing spare parts has been an obligation in France since at least 2021. If the Fold5 and Flip 5 also receive good marks on the French index, it is mainly thanks to this documentation and the availability of parts. Dismantability in itself lowers the score, particularly on the criterion of ease of disassembly… which is not at all. The complexity of the operation and the price of the parts should unfortunately dissuade more than one person from trying home repairs.
