According to well-informed sources, it seems that Samsung is about to amputate its smartphones of the depth sensor, at least those which are usually equipped.

If the Nothing Phone (1) encounters a relatively complicated launch, Samsung would however be observing on the side of the London brand in order to rethink the sensors that will be on board its devices from 2023.

Samsung smartphones should soon say goodbye to their depth sensor

According The Electricand as reported to us by the media NextPit, everything suggests that Samsung will soon part with the depth sensor present on its mid-range smartphones. The first models concerned would be those coming next year, namely the Galaxy A24, A34 and A54. The latter would therefore carry a triple photo module consisting of a wide-angle camera, an ultra-wide camera and a macro sensor.

The Korean manufacturer therefore seems to want to take inspiration from the Google Pixel 6 or the Nothing Phone (1), which also only has two rear cameras: the main camera and the wide-angle. Indeed, Samsung still seems to want to keep the macro sensor on its upcoming models in 2023. At present, the South Korean has not yet communicated anything about this rumor, which is more than credible given the source.

In making this decision, Samsung would like to focus more on beefing up the specs of its devices rather than just the number of on-board cameras. In addition, the question of costs would obviously come into play. The idea would therefore be to focus on the specifications and to offer better value for money for its mid-range smartphones.

The Galaxy A24, A34 and A54 reveal a little more

Still according to the report published by the media The Electric, we learn that the Galaxy A24 is expected to come with a 50 MP main sensor, 8 MP wide-angle and 5 MP macro camera. Regarding the Galaxy A34, only the main camera should differ since it would carry a 48 MP sensor.

Finally, more surprisingly, the report indicates that the Galaxy A54 would be equipped with a 5 MP wide-angle camera against 8 MP for its counterparts. An astonishing piece of information considering that it is supposed to be the most sophisticated model in the range. However, it could just be a mistake. Anyway, and pending confirmation, the Galaxy A34 would be expected for next March. For its part, the Galaxy A54 should land a month later, in April 2023.
