According to information gleaned by SamMobile, the Galaxy S23 FE would be expected in the fourth quarter of 2023… with an Exynos 2200 processor at its heart. Either the same chip as the Galaxy S22, disappointing in this regard.
After skipping the Galaxy S22 FE in 2022, the Galaxy S Fan Edition range could make a comeback in 2023. In any case, this is what the rumors point to, which have multiplied in recent months. SamMobile gives a layer with exclusive information and oh so interesting.
According to the outlet, the Galaxy S23 FE is expected to launch sometime in the fourth quarter. The Korean giant could be tempted to market it just before the Christmas holidays. But this timing would clearly raise questions: the new generation of Galaxy S is expected each February. Be careful not to plan outings that are too close.
A disappointing SoC on the menu?
Remember: the Galaxy S21 FE was introduced in January 2022… a month before the arrival of the Galaxy S22. Not sure that helped clarify the range and boost sales of each model. But the crispiest element is none other than the choice of processor: Samsung would opt for an Exynos 2200 chip for all markets, including the USA.
This SoC is the one that powers the Galaxy S22. Problem: it had clearly not convinced us, despite the presence of an AMD GPU for the very first time in the history of the Exynos. Fast and intense heating, graphics performance down, low autonomy: this processor clearly did not play in favor of the phone.
Caution
We are therefore within our right to express serious reservations about the choice of such a component. Certainly, the Fan Edition offer aims to make small compromises to bring its price down, while offering a high-end experience. But an Exynos 2200 could simply weigh down the experience, and therefore the phone.
However, we must take a few tweezers in the face of these hallway noises. SamMobile indeed does not cite its source explicitly, and also calls for caution. We must now hope that Samsung will fall back on another processor model: why not a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, much more convincing on paper and in practice.
