Til Schweiger attracts more and more stars with its ice pool challenge. Samuel Koch also ventured into the three-degree cold water.

For some time now, the sunny Spanish island of Mallorca has had an ice-cold celebrity attraction. Actor Til Schweiger (57) had an ice basin installed in his finca, and recently some of his famous friends tested how long they can withstand the three degrees cold water. Also Samuel Koch (33), who has been working for “Wetten, dass ..?” is paraplegic in 2010, now dared to take part in Schweiger’s ice pool challenge, like a Video on Schweiger’s Instagram account proves.

In the bitter cold water, Koch even finds the time to joke: “Maybe I’ll walk out here right away! Or my heart will stop.” His wife Sarah Elena (36) is at least as brave in the clip, who can stand it for minutes at her husband’s side in the pool.

The next celebrity is already in line

Schweiger’s “Tatort” colleagues Jan Josef Liefers (57) and Wotan Wilke Möhring (54) had not lasted that long before. For them it was over after less than a minute. In the comments section on Möhring’s attempt the next celebrity has already announced. Alec Völkel (49), singer of The BossHoss, write: “Haha … now they all come to you for an ice bath! I’ll come too!” Schweiger’s invitation followed immediately: “Hop over.”

Worldwide promotion in 2014

With the hashtag #icebucketchallenge Til Schweiger reminds of the internet campaign that went around the world in 2014 to raise awareness of the rare disease ALS. Back then, celebrities and non-celebrities poured ice-cold water or ice cubes over their heads, posted a video of the campaign online and nominated others to follow suit. Pete Frates (1984-2019), the initiator of the campaign, succumbed to the consequences of the illness.
