Samuel L. Jackson is one of the rare living actors to have acted in more than a hundred films during his long career which began in the 1980s. However, cinema was not obvious to the young man who had initially oriented towards police studies, before changing paths for the hotel and catering sector, to finally end up with a diploma in drama in the early 70s.
Among the many filmmakers that Samuel L. Jackson was able to rub shoulders with during his immense career, two directors had a privileged relationship with the actor, and greatly participated in definitively launching him on the path to success.
It was during his years spent on the boards of New York theaters that he met the very young Spike Lee. The latter offered him in 1989 the small role of radio host Love Daddy who opened the film Do The Right Thing announcing a hot day to come.
Second collaboration in 1990 with Mo’ Better Blues, then again the following year for Jungle Fever, a film which brought him his first real recognition when he won the prize for best actor in a supporting role at Cannes in 1991.
The second decisive meeting will take place on the set of True Romance by Tony Scott. It was there that he met Quentin Tarantino, screenwriter of the film, who then entrusted him with the role of Jules Winnfield in his second feature film, Pulp Fiction. A character who later became cult with his many memorable lines, and which will allow the actor to reveal himself to the eyes of the whole world.
