If our gaze is turned towards the Game Awards, bandai namco did not wait for the ceremony to make a very surprising announcement, which has no connection with the event and will delight long-time fans of Akira Toriyama’s works. No question of dragonball here, but from a much shorter one-volume manga from 2000: Sandland. Yes you are not dreaming, the publisher intends to adapt this universe featuring demons, whose protagonist Beelzebub. It is also him that we find drawn in the announcement video simply acting as a teaser.
A short communicated on the site of bandai namco tells us that this “SAND LAND project” will make us discover “the world, the characters and vehicles” of this universe imagined by Akira Toriyama. If you don’t know at all Sand Landhere is the description that is provided:
In a desert world where both demons and humans suffer from extreme water scarcity, Beelzebub, the prince of demons, and Rao, a small-town sheriff, form a team and go on an adventure in search of of ghost lake, located somewhere in the desert.
At a time of climate problems, this work has a very special resonance and we can’t wait to find out how this world will be adapted, with no doubt a video game in the mix (a RPG ?), and especially by whom. Perhaps we will have the answer within the framework of the Jump Festabecause more details will be released on December 17.

Update (17/12/22) : good, for the moment, only an anime adaptation has been formalized with a teaser, produced by Sunrise, Kamikaze Douga and Animascheduled for 2023.
