Neil Gaiman’s “Sandman” comic series was published from 1989 to 1996 and told a completed story in 75 issues. Although the tale of Dream and his siblings was well received at the time, an adaptation has only come about now, 33 years after it was first published.

This is probably due to the difficulties involved in realizing Neil Gaiman’s fantastic worlds. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, among others, tried to direct and lead “Sandman” to the big screen, but creative differences put an end to the project.

Actually, a film version of “Sandman” was always doomed to failure, the plot of the comics is too extensive. The “Sandman” series on Netflix, on the other hand, can now take the necessary time and stick closely to the template. The result is impressive and most “Sandman” fans of the first hour should be satisfied with the implementation, but the comics differed in some places.

Netzwelt summarizes the biggest differences between the comics and the episodes on Netflix for you and, if possible, also provides explanations of the changes. Netzwelt wishes you lots of fun and sweet dreams!
