Sandman Season 2: What’s next for Netflix with Dream, Death and Co.?

“Sandman” takes you into the fantastic world of dreams created by Neil Gaiman. In the first season of the ambitious series project, Netflix has already adapted two of the 10 comic books, and now numerous templates remain for the coming seasons.

Sandman season 2: start date

So far, no season 2 of “Sandman” has been confirmed. That’s not a bad sign, though, as the series just launched on Netflix. An official extension is not expected for a few weeks or even months.

Even with an early extension, shooting is not expected to start before 2023, after all the scripts for season 2 have to be written first. So we shouldn’t expect new “Sandman” episodes before 2024.

Sandman Season 2: Storyline

In the first season of “Sandman” the first two comic books, “Preludes & Nocturnes” and “The Doll’s House” were used as templates. The suspicion is that season 2 will continue with the next two volumes, i.e. “Sandman Dreamland” and “The Time of the Fog”. However, “Sandman Dreamland” only contains four short stories that could easily be skipped.

However, “The Era of Mist” is a pretty safe bet, in which Dream travels to Hell to save his old love Nada, after he once banished her. In doing so, however, he clashes with Lucifer. A conflict already hinted at in the final scene of Season 1.

Volume 5, “Across the Sea to Heaven”, would also lend itself to an adaptation, here there is a reunion with Barbie, who you already know as Rose Walker’s roommate from season 1. In any case, it cannot currently be assumed that the Netflix series will completely detach itself from the templates.

Sandman Season 2: Cast

There is no information yet on the cast of “Sandman” season 2, but it is likely that most of the actors and actresses from season 1 will be back on board. It will probably be some time before we learn more about the actors and actresses of the new characters.
