Bryan Randall was her mainstay and a great father to her children. How bravely Sandra Bullock cared for her partner to the end is only now becoming clear.

She was with him the whole time. Not on the film set, not on the red carpet, not at any Hollywood event. Instead stood Sandra Bullock, 59, her partner Bryan Randall, 57 †, in the past few months – on the final stretch of his terminal illness.

Sandra Bullock: She lost Bryan Randall to ALS

She was his nurse. She couldn’t do more for her “soul mate”, as she liked to call him. The nervous disease ALS, in which paralysis gradually occurs throughout the body and eventually stops breathing, is incurable. Bryan Randall has now died at the age of 57.

Bryan Randall: He was her great love

“He’s the love of my life,” Bullock said of the photographer in interviews. And they were delighted with the Oscar winner. Because her then husband Jesse James, 54, had previously cheated on her several times, in 2010 she filed for divorce after five years of marriage. With photographer Randall luck came back in 2015, not only for the wife Sandra Bullock, but also for the mother. The couple fell in love when Sandra hired him to take photos at the birthday party of her adopted son Louis, now 13. It was love at first sight. Shortly thereafter, Bullock adopted another child, Laila, who is now 11. Randall also brought a daughter into the relationship. The patchwork life worked. Also because Bryan is a “saint,” Bullock said. He supported her with full commitment in bringing up the children.

Sandra’s children called him papa

The couple tied the knot in a secret and very romantic ceremony on a beach in the Bahamas in 2017, according to the Daily Mail. Bullock no longer wanted to enter into an official marriage after his bitter experiences with Jesse James. A confidant of the couple says. “They really did this for the kids, to show them that this is a forever thing.” After this, Louis and Laila began calling Bryan “Dad”, their bond growing even closer.

His diagnosis was a devastating blow to the family

Three years later, the diagnosis ALS destroyed the family happiness. Only a few confidants, including colleague Jennifer Aniston, told Bullock about it. Bryan wanted it that way. Many of his friends last heard from him last year, and he withdrew completely. It must have been difficult for Sandra Bullock too, being able to talk to just a few people about her fears. And at the same time to keep a bit of normality for the children. To be strong for her – and for Bryan. In Hollywood, she justified her absence by saying she was taking time off to spend with her family. What that actually meant is only now becoming clear.

Her sister Gesine Bullock-Prado wrote on Instagram how wonderfully Sandra took care of her partner. And added a comforting image: “I’m convinced Bryan has found the best fishing spot in heaven and throws his bait into rushing rivers full of salmon.” It will be a long time before Sandra Bullock feels this confidence.
