At the Queen’s country estate in Norfolk, it’s now very easy to book a spot and rent the gardener’s former home.

Sleeping like a queen – that’s almost possible now. A cottage on the estate of Queen Elizabeth II (96) in Sandringham was advertised on Airbnb. This is the former home of the Queen’s master gardener.

The country estate in the English county of Norfolk is privately owned by the British royal family. The charming cottage has four bedrooms, six beds and can accommodate eight people on two floors. The rooms are furnished with furniture and pictures, all of which come from the Royal Collection and were once housed in a royal residence.

Garden and park in front of the front door

Show numerous photos on the platformhow the accommodation looks like. From the outside, the little house is enticing with its ivy-covered walls, the furnishings are relatively simple, judging by the owners: cream-colored seating, wooden furniture, a fireplace. A particular highlight is the area, which boasts the gardens and parks of the Sandringham Estate.

Pets are also allowed – up to three dogs, but please keep them on a leash when walking in the “formal” garden. Parties and smoking in the house are forbidden.

408 euros per night

If you want to fulfill your dream of vacationing with the Queen, you have to be patient: there are still a few appointments available at the end of next year. The minimum length of stay is three nights, for which the current charge is 1,062 pounds, the equivalent of around 408 euros per night. However, one should hardly expect the Queen to personally welcome the guests, as is often the case with other Airbnbs.
